Our votes are for SNOB – great food and service but Tom’s fav is Anson’s near the Market. Their “crispy flounder” is the BEST!!!
Ooh… those all sound good. In Richland there’s also The Gourmet Shop, Za’s, Miyo’s, Rockaway Athletic Club, Blue Marlin… Mmmm…
And in Charleston, you’ve got to visit Tommy Condon’s. The food is great. The drinks and the live entertainment (Irish music!) are EXCELLENT!
City Range on Haywood Road and Augusta Grill on Augusta Rd. are my favorites in Greenville. Henry’s Smokehouse is also good.
My favorite restaurant is Rick Erwins in Greenville because it starts with my first name, not really. It is because the food and atmosphere are great. I`m not sure if it is French but it was rated as a Top 100 in the USA. It is downtown on South Main St. Another great restaurant is the Dockside in Port Royal (Beaufort County). It is right next to the commercial boat dock. The view is beautiful at sunset and has a nice atmosphere for a seafood restaurant.
My favorite seafood restaurant (although you can rarely go there without a 30 minute wait) in Greenville, SC is Red Lobster on Wade Hampton Blvd. Their caesar salad and popcorn shrimp are unbelievable. Not to mention the shrimp scampi and garlic cheddar biscuits! As for the best American burger, there’s not a better place than Five Guys @ Cherrydale. Their fries are to die for also and they give you a TON of them too! Best sushi IMO is Sushi Murasaki on Main Downtown. Gotta try their crab salad and sushi rolls! You can tell I’m hungry, I’ve mentioned 3 restaurants!

I know that it must be very difficult to narrow all the dining establishments down to a fraction those available in each county. However, in the areas with which I am familiar, I believe you made excellent choices. If a person travels to a place in South Carolina with which he is not familiar, he would be well served to consult your lists. My current personal favorite is Saluda River Grill in Piedmont. The atmosphere, friendliness and outstanding cuisine receive high marks in my book, too. I believe Mr. Boggs went panning on Saluda River and came up with nugget. It is surprising that a place of this caliber is located in sleepy little Piedmont. It is obvious that someone went to great lengths to produce a first quality restaurant there!
For me, nothing could be finer than Bocci’s in Charleston, South Carolina.
Love your lists, especially Greenville and Greer! You chose a great variety – some we don’t think of often. I’ll consult this list when we’re trying to think where to go out to eat! Oh, a “new” one you may or may not want to add is Carolina Ale House, downtown Greenville. It’s the one where we saw Kid Rock having dinner and has a fantastic rooftop bar!
I just started the process of building a home on Lake Greenwood near Greenwood SC. Due to this I am having to make many trips to the area and have started trying some of the restaurants in Greenwood.
There appear to be 3 more upscale establishments. Pascals is on your list, however Polo’s and Montegue’s are not. I have not tried Polos or Pascal’s but have been to Montegues twice….and really like the place. I understand they are in the process of revising the menu, but it should be good (I hope).
