Yea! This tree is huge I was glad I got the chance to see and walk under it’s brecahns .even though it was a hot day the shade of the tree gives off a coolness .love the pictures .

My maternal grandfather was Edward Deming Lucas who’s family came from Egremont, England, I am told.

He had three sons and three daughters
John Lucas
Edward Lucas
Benjamin Lucas

Margaret Wilson Lucas
Catherine… Lucas
Lillian … Lucas.

At one time as a young boy he lived in Charleston, sc. However the historian and the Charleston Historical Library says there is NO connection to Eliza’s family.

Would be interested in any remarks you might wan to share or info you might have.

Thank you Maxi for taking such great photo’s of the home. My husband is James T. Bonham and is related to James B. Bonham (cousin’s removed a few times). We visited in the fall and really enjoyed the home. The guide from The Saluda Museum was so accommodating and brought in another volunteer so that she could take us to the house. Your photo’s are beautiful! Thank you again.

I just started the process of building a home on Lake Greenwood near Greenwood SC. Due to this I am having to make many trips to the area and have started trying some of the restaurants in Greenwood.

There appear to be 3 more upscale establishments. Pascals is on your list, however Polo’s and Montegue’s are not. I have not tried Polos or Pascal’s but have been to Montegues twice….and really like the place. I understand they are in the process of revising the menu, but it should be good (I hope).

I did a review of Montegues here http://www.marshallscott.com/food/montagues-in-greenwood-sc-terrific-small-town-restaurant/ and a couple of other “meat and 3″ type restaurants……Rick’s Uptown Cafe and Sports Break. Both have very credible southern cooking.

Hope that adds another place or two to your list.
